The Meaning of Ayni
What is Ayni?
In Quechua — the language of the Andean people — "Ayni" means sacred reciprocity. It is the living principle that what you give to the community, the community gives back to you.
For generations, Andean communities have practiced Ayni as a way of life: neighbors helping neighbors plant crops, families sharing food in times of need, communities building together. It is not charity — it is mutual belonging.
We carry that spirit into everything we do — from distributing essentials in underserved neighborhoods to supporting children's education in the highlands of Peru.

Our work supports women, children, and families in underserved communities in the United States and Peru through essential assistance, educational resources, seasonal outreach, and trusted community relationships.
Our Story
How it all began.
Ayni On Earth grew from a deep connection to Peru and a desire to bring the spirit of ayni—reciprocity—into the communities we serve. What began as a simple effort to provide essentials to families in need has grown into a nonprofit reaching more than 300 people each year through programs and community outreach in the United States and Peru.
We remain a small, volunteer-led organization supported by people who believe that generosity, connection, and reciprocity can create meaningful change.
